Baños
Baños is a rural parish on Cuenca's southwest side whose identity brings together hot springs, hillside landscapes, farming and devotion to the Virgen de Guadalupe. The parish government's own account describes precolonial and Cañari roots, colonial mining around Minas, and republican recognition in 1824, later confirmed as a rural parish of Cuenca on 1 September 1852.
Water, hills and livelihoods
The local history links settlement to thermal waters, gold-bearing veins and the transition between Cuenca's valley and the upper Yanuncay. The parish tourism office now frames those assets through rural, cultural and community tourism, while its symbols associate the landscape with harvests, farming tools and small industry. 1 2 3
Guadalupe and public life
The Basilica of the Virgen de Guadalupe is a central marker in the parish's civic and religious identity.
