Land, parish and independence-era memory
The parish PDOT records land transactions in El Valle de Guncay and Paccha from 1655 and describes El Valle's role during Cuenca's independence period. The same document gives a parish history rooted in San Juan Bautista de El Valle and notes that the exact founding record is incomplete. 2 1
Agriculture, livestock and the parish center
Cuenca's rural-identity page describes El Valle as an agricultural parish whose farms and livestock supply the city, with coffee, chocolate and morocho associated with the parish center. The GAD site also highlights agroproduction, cultural activities, sports programs and a parish market. These pages describe the parish's productive and social identity without assigning current opening hours to businesses. 3 4
A living rural landscape
The parish's official and local reporting describe popular festivals, viewpoints toward Cuenca and a rural landscape used for walking, riding and cycling. The 2019–2023 parish plan (PDOT) maps its boundaries and neighboring parishes. 2 5 4
