Bread, farming and rural enterprise

VisitCuenca describes families continuing to bake bread in adobe and brick wood-fired ovens, sometimes using panela water for flavor. A 2025 Prefecture report connects Nulti's cuy festival, bread, small-animal raising, women entrepreneurs and local producers as a living rural economy. A University of Cuenca thesis studies the parish's place names in Cañari, Quichua and Spanish, alongside geology, hydrology, vegetation and settlement. The parish's own history records Nulti's civil establishment in 1869 and the continuing importance of the Señor de los Milagros devotion; its boundaries have shifted over time. 5 1
